The First Substantial post:

In order to start this blog off right, we must first establish the tone of the world we currently live in.

Let’s start with the large, overall environment and move our way down to the spot where i sit. I think you will find it is at least remotely similar to your own spot.
THE UNIVERSE

As of yet just a very expensive model. We have a great many photos of her, but short of the photographers, the rest of us are forced to enjoy her in nothing but superficial ways. Perhaps we are all grandly affected by the goings on within our universe, but for the immediate moment we are mostly just observers. For folks like you and i, it could very well be all we ever are. There are many who will argue this, and i can’t say they aren’t right. Our connection to the universe is infinitely debatable, but for the moment my inner mystic is being suppressed by my blue collar. He’s still in there, though.

THE MILKY WAY GALAXY

No inter-planetary war as of yet, but we also have not yet colonized other planets. Is this possible? Well, according to various scientists (who will inevitably be cited on this page as time goes on) claim that advances are being made in order to allow such incredible things to happen. As we speak, the Mars Landing missions (not an official title) are in their end phases of data gathering, and as it turns out, Mars is made of rock and might have water. Try not to get too excited.

For now, we are passing the time deciding which big rocks are planets and how close the smaller rocks are to killing us.

THE SOL SYSTEM

A lovingly sci-fi name for our planetary star system, sol. We are currently orbiting the sun with little to no effort, and gathering in her life giving rays with all the strength our little cells can muster. Most of the planets are cool just floating around, whereas earth is filled with a lot of thugs who feel the need to stick our noses in other people’s business. More specifically, we try to kill each other in masses and are simultaneously attempting to reach out to an unknown universe. Something tells me there is a conflict of interest here.

The issues on this planet currently draw attention away from the rest of Sol, although as i mentioned before, efforts are being made.

EARTH

Uh… pass.

THE AMERICAS

Currently i live in the states on the east coast. Here, we are attempting to survive the magical money machine. As it turns out, the people who designed the machine may or may not be rigging it to explode. Also, they may be attempting to repair a catastrophic error. So… are the men behind the machine doin’ it in the exhaust port or are they trying trying to install a new one?

Food for Thought:

Shell Oil is no longer supporting thier alternative energy projects, instead moving all study to biofuels and existing energy products. Because we all know that attempting to harness the infinitely more efficient and arguably more interesting power source represented by our sun is a bunch of hooey. I’d much rather continue to drive a controlled explosion around.

(Forgive me for my lame link on this Food for Thought, future links will be less… googled.)

THE EAST COAST

Anything special going on here? Well, besides being the epicenter of the world economy crisis, no. Barack Obama calls this place home, and the capitalist united states is alive and kicking (although some would argue in the drowning sense). Obviously a great many things are happening here right now, but for the wide-ish perspective i am currently taking, its safe to simply say Humans are being Humans in record numbers right now. History will no doubt rememeber this time as we remember other times gone past: “Wow, those guys sure were stupid. Maybe if we do it with laser guns this time, we’ll get it right.”

MY OFFICE

Big jump from east coast to office? Well, probably.

Here, i work a job where i have the opportunity from time to time to read the news. So, this blog will commonly refer to stories which i have some question revolving around or some opinion i decide to spew. I sit at a cubicle which i have decorated with random junk, and my workload revolves around a technical support line. I don’t deal with the public at large, but i do deal with a large sample of local gov’t employees who use our systems. Its life. Same as yours. Right now, the atmosphere is as you would expect. Some people have been let go, some took pay cuts, all of us are doing our jobs while we glace about like animals recently hunted, now recovering. Not a unqiue story.

MY PERSONAL LIFE

While i will do my best to keep this chunk of the picture left to the imagination, i can assure you it will slip in. Currently, i am recently moved into a new apartment with a long-time friend. This represents a new life for this humble blogger, the sordid past which led to it i will leave blank for the time being. We will simply say that it is a good time for me to figure out what exactly the point of having a new life is.

And So, from this point we shall begin the Fifth Blog.
